LM1600 powered superyacht

EPS has worked on many gas turbines over the years. A particular standout is the LM1600 powered superyacht MY Zeus (Formerly MY Engima) – Check out this video of EPS onboard during sea trials at 33knots.

About Zeus

Zeus is a 74.5 m / 244′6″ luxury motor yacht. She was built by Blohm + Voss in 1991. With a beam of 11.2 m and a draft of 3.2 m, she has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. This adds up to a gross tonnage of 1150 tons. She is powered by a jet and 2 engines of 5,005 hp each giving her a maximum speed of 34 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots. The motor yacht can accommodate 15 guests in 6 cabins as well as 21 crew. The yacht was designed by Francis Design.

GE LM1600 Gas Turbine

The LM1600 gas turbine is a simple-cycle, two-shaft, high-performance engine derived from the F404 turbofan aircraft engine. The first industrial gas turbine was installed in November 1988.This unit is widely used in industrial applications like power generation and combined heat & power, onshore and offshore. Marine applications include propulsion of navy vessels, ferries and luxury yachts.
