EPS supports a gearbox replacement with instrumentation and software changes – CompEx 01-04 fully qualified engineers
EPS were asked to assist with software changes and instrumentation installation on a speed increasing gearbox change. The package was a Siemens SGT200-2S compressor set in the UK North Sea and involved us working alongside the gearbox vendor and other contractors to provide an collaborated effort.
The workscope included:
- The supply and installation of all the conduit and fittings
- The supply and installation of newly updated Rustronic MkII overspeed cards
- The installation of all the gearbox instrumentation
- Testing of the instrumentation protective functions
- Update of all gas turbine running parameters and associated software changes
- Commissioning and testing of all the new settings
What software changes can EPS implement?
EPS has been involved in bringing about many changes to the Rustronic MkII software over the years. Many of our projects come as the OEM of the equipment no longer supports it, with many of the engineers involved no longer with the company. Here are examples of some of the modifications we have completed recently:
- Changing switches to transmitters
- Troublesome switches such as vent flow converted to transmitters
- Air filter switches changed to transmitters for condition monitoring
- LM1600 fully automated power control
- Power limit altered dependent on live electricity pricing
- Large savings for customer with no operator input
- Pricing brought in live from RSS feed
- Spin to cool functionality
- New fuel systems to replace obsolete systems
- New HMI’s – OG86 compliant
- Plus many more custom requirements
We can test our software changes with our in-house test chassis and equipment.
