Keeping your Rustronic MKII (Mk2) Control System reliable and up-to-date for years to come
EPS specialise in extending the life of the Rustronic MKII Control System. A retrofit can not only be a costly exercise, but also one which incurs significant downtime. With our knowledge and expertise we can provide incremental improvements to both the Rustronic and its sub-systems to give many years of trouble-free operation.
We hold large stocks of tested cards to ensure any requirements can be met quickly. These can be seen in our online catalogue – Current Stock – European Power Systems alongside all other parts for the Rustronic MKII control system. Our cards are ready to despatch and are supplied with a 12 month warranty.
Some of the services we can provide:
- Performing a site survey/health check to document and suggest areas of potential failure/improvement
- Upgrading the HMI using industry standard hardware using PC’s with dual SSD and fanless cooling and EPS designed graphics which significantly improve operator interaction. This also allows connection to external sources such as ProcessVision (PI) or remote access connections
- Upgraded Rustronic MkII ISM’s to our in-house developed version which is a completely solid state (based around removeable SDHC technology) ISM. This is plug & play and is a direct replacement to the original ISM’s and function in an identical way. It gives improved capabilities when creating saves. It can all be done on one SD card which can be cloned and stored on a backed up system.
- Replacing vibration, fire and gas, AVR and generator protection systems
- Replacing fuel systems to remove obsolete systems and improve reliability
- In-house testing and repair of existing cards
- Issuing a recommended critical spares list
Rustronic MkII History
The Rustronic MkII is a gas turbine control system developed by European Gas Turbines. The system was first introduced in the 1980/90’s and has since become a popular choice for gas turbine power plants worldwide, however it is now obsolete.
The development of the Rustronic MkII was driven by the need for a more advanced and reliable control system for gas turbines. The previous generation of control systems had limitations in terms of functionality and performance, which made it difficult to operate gas turbines efficiently and safely.
EGT (Now Siemens) addressed these issues by developing the Rustronic MkII, which is a digital control system that offers a wide range of features and capabilities. The system includes advanced algorithms for controlling the combustion process, monitoring turbine performance, and managing system safety.
Over the years, the Rustronic MkII has undergone several updates and improvements to keep up with evolving industry standards and customer needs. Today, the system is still widely used in gas turbine power plants for a variety of applications, including power generation, mechanical drive, and marine propulsion. EPS continue to support this system with a vast stock of spares.
